You are welcome to book check-ups as often as needed. Aftercare You will be provided with tailored aftercare guidance relevant to your treatment. For piercings, this includes jewellery-specific information and written aftercare instructions. For aesthetic treatments, post-treatment advice will be given to support safe healing and optimal results. Aftercare information is also available on our website. Downsizing and Adjustments Some piercings require a return visit for downsizing. Initial swelling is normal, so longer jewellery is often fitted at first. Once swelling has settled, downsizing is essential to provide proper stability and reduce the risk of irritation or healing complications. Aesthetic treatments may also require review or adjustment, which will be discussed with you at your appointment. Jewellery Checks and Responsibility Threaded jewellery is commonly used. Over time, attachments can loosen, so it is good practice to check that jewellery is secure during your daily aftercare routine. We cannot accept responsibility for lost jewellery once you have left the studio. Ongoing care and checking of jewellery or treated areas remains the client’s responsibility. Concerns or Healing Issues If you notice anything unusual, experience discomfort beyond what was discussed, or have concerns about healing or results, please book a follow-up appointment promptly. Early review allows issues to be addressed quickly and effectively. We are here to support you through every stage of healing and aftercare. • Aesthetics - Treatment Complications | Jade Alexandra Collective

Understand possible complications of aesthetic treatments, including side effects, risks, and how professional protocols support safe outcomes. Understanding Complications All aesthetic treatments involve interacting with living tissue. While complications are uncommon when procedures are performed correctly, no injectable treatment is completely without risk. At Jade Alexandra Collective, treatments are carried out with a strong foundation in anatomy, tissue physiology and evidence-based practice. Careful assessment, conservative dosing and precise technique significantly reduce risk. However, understanding potential complications allows clients to make informed decisions and recognise when something may need professional review. Injectable treatments generally fall into two categories: neuromodulators (commonly known as anti-wrinkle treatments) and dermal fillers. Each works differently within the tissue and therefore carries different types of potential complications. Anti-Wrinkle (Botulinum Toxin) Complications Anti-wrinkle treatments use a neuromodulator to temporarily relax targeted facial muscles. By reducing repetitive muscle contraction, lines gradually soften and the overlying skin is able to rest. Most side effects are mild and short-lived, and are part of the body’s normal response to injection. Common temporary effects may include: • Redness at the injection site • Mild swelling • Small bruises • Temporary tenderness In some cases the medication may diffuse slightly beyond the intended treatment area and influence nearby muscles. This can occasionally cause temporary effects such as: • Slight brow heaviness • Eyelid drooping (ptosis) • Smile asymmetry • Uneven muscle relaxation These effects are uncommon and typically resolve as the medication naturally wears off over several weeks. Clients should contact the clinic if they notice significant eyelid drooping, difficulty closing the eye fully, or unusual muscle weakness outside the treated area so that appropriate advice can be provided. Eye-lid Ptsosis Dermal Filler Complications Dermal fillers work differently from neuromodulators. Rather than affecting muscle activity, fillers restore volume, structure or hydration within the tissue. Because filler physically occupies space within the skin, the potential complications are different. Common temporary effects include: • Swelling • Bruising • Tenderness • Mild asymmetry during the settling period These effects are expected following treatment and usually improve over several days as the tissue settles. Less commonly, complications may include: • Lumps or irregular texture • Prolonged swelling • Delayed inflammatory reactions • Infection Vascular Complications A very rare but serious complication associated with dermal filler is vascular occlusion, where filler compromises blood flow to surrounding tissue. Prompt recognition and treatment are essential to protect tissue health. Warning signs that require immediate assessment include: • Skin that becomes pale, dusky, grey or mottled • Increasing pain that feels disproportionate to treatment • Skin that feels unusually cool to the touch • Delayed capillary refill when the skin is gently pressed • Blistering or darkening of the skin Visual Disturbances In extremely rare cases, dermal filler may affect blood vessels that supply the eye. If filler enters or compresses these vessels it can lead to sudden visual disturbance or loss of vision. Symptoms that require immediate medical attention include: • Sudden blurred or reduced vision • Partial or complete vision loss • Double vision • Severe headache or eye pain These complications are very uncommon, however urgent assessment is essential if any visual symptoms occur. Clients are always encouraged to contact the clinic promptly if anything feels unusual following treatment. Early assessment allows concerns to be addressed quickly and supports the safest possible outcome.

  • FAQ | Jade Alexandra Collective

Find answers to common questions about Jade Alexandra Collective, Durham. From bookings to jewellery and aftercare, our FAQ covers everything you need to know. Frequently asked questions. Thanks for taking the time to browse this page, hopefully we can answer any questions you may have here to make things a little more convenient and more time efficient. Do I need an appointment? Yes, you will certainly need an appointment, whether it's for a piercing, aftercare check up or to purchase and look at jewellery. Appointments can be booked easily and conveniently through the booking system on our website, or direct through the "book now" button on our Facebook page. Can I have my piercing done with a ring? In most cases, rings are not suitable for initial piercings. Fresh piercings naturally swell as part of the healing process, and rings tend to move and rotate more, which can increase irritation and prolong healing. For this reason, initial piercings are usually performed with more stable jewellery, such as a flat-back or straight post, to allow room for swelling and support a cleaner, more predictable heal. Once the piercing has fully healed and settled, jewellery can be changed to a ring where appropriate and sized correctly to your anatomy. What methods of payment do you accept? We accept cash, debit or credit card and contactless payments including apple or google pay. We also accept Clearpay, if eligible. Do you use a needle or gun for piercings? We use single-use, sterile hypodermic needles only and do not advocate the use of piercing guns. Piercing needles are designed to create a clean, precise opening with minimal tissue trauma. In contrast, piercing guns rely on blunt force to push jewellery through the tissue at speed, which can cause unnecessary damage and limits jewellery choice and sizing. Piercing guns also cannot be sterilised in a medical-grade autoclave. Wiping or disinfecting the surface of the device does not eliminate the risk of cross-contamination or the transmission of blood-borne pathogens. Do I need an anatomy consultation before booking a piercing appointment? Some piercings are not anatomically suitable for everyone. If a placement requires assessment, it is strongly advised to book an anatomy consultation before scheduling a piercing appointment. This allows for a proper evaluation and helps avoid unnecessary disappointment or wasted appointment time. An anatomy consultation is also recommended if you have had previous surgery, scarring, past trauma, or unique anatomy in the area you wish to have pierced. Please do not book a piercing appointment on the same day as an anatomy consultation. Piercing appointments should only be booked after the consultation has taken place. Any piercings requiring an anatomy consultation will be clearly indicated on the booking system. I have had a piercing done at another establishment & I have concerns, can I come in for a check up? If your piercing was not carried out by us, a troubleshooting appointment is required. This appointment carries a small fee to cover our time, assessment, and professional expertise. We are always happy to take a look and offer honest, informed advice. Aftercare check-up appointments are a routine service offered free of charge to clients who were pierced by us, as part of their original piercing package. This distinction allows us to remain fair and consistent, while continuing to provide ongoing support to our own clients. Do you offer numbing? We do not offer numbing for piercings, and we strongly advise against using any numbing products at home prior to your appointment. Topical numbing agents are medical products and carry risks, including allergic reactions, skin irritation, and vasoconstriction, the narrowing of blood vessels. Reduced blood flow is counterproductive for a new piercing, as healthy circulation is essential for delivering white blood cells and initiating the healing process. Numbing is offered for some aesthetic treatments only, and where appropriate this is limited to a regulated 5% topical cream, used under controlled conditions for the same safety considerations outlined above. How many piercings can I have done in one sitting? For safety and healing reasons, we do not recommend having more than three piercings in a single appointment, with the sole exception of up to four ear lobe piercings. We will not perform more than three cartilage, facial, or body piercings at one time, or any combination of these exceeding three. This is to ensure swelling, tenderness, and aftercare remain manageable, and to reduce the risk of complications during healing. We also recommend waiting a minimum of 12 weeks between piercing appointments. This allows the initial inflammatory phase to settle before introducing additional trauma to the body. These limits are not negotiable and cannot be waived. We always retain the right to set and uphold safe clinical boundaries on the procedures we perform. Do you offer refunds or returns? For hygiene and safety reasons, all jewellery sales are final. Body jewellery cannot be returned or exchanged once it has been fitted into a piercing. If jewellery is purchased but not fitted at your appointment, it cannot be returned or exchanged once it has left the studio. Piercing procedures are non-refundable. While you may choose to remove a piercing at any time, and we are happy to assist with safe removal, refunds cannot be offered for a service that has been correctly and professionally carried out. Please note that aesthetic treatments may require multiple visits to achieve optimal or desired results, and outcomes can vary between individuals. Do you pierce babies/infants? We do not pierce children under the age of 7. We believe it is neither ethical nor appropriate to perform cosmetic piercings on infants or very young children who are unable to understand or consent to the procedure. In addition, children are still developing anatomically, and waiting allows for safer, more accurate placement as the body grows. We will only pierce individuals who are able to give informed consent. Bodily autonomy is fully respected at every age, and no exceptions to this policy are made. Can I bring my own jewellery? We do not pierce with, or fit, jewellery that has been sourced outside of the studio. To maintain safety standards, we must work exclusively with jewellery made from verifiable, implant-grade materials. Jewellery purchased elsewhere cannot be guaranteed safe or suitable for use in the body. For the same reasons, jewellery previously purchased from the studio cannot be reused in a fresh piercing. Once jewellery has been worn, it cannot be re-sterilised to the standards required without risking contamination of our sterilisation equipment. These policies allow us to uphold strict hygiene, safety, and material integrity across all procedures. When can I change my jewellery? We do not recommend changing or removing your jewellery yourself until the piercing is fully healed. However, your piercer may be able to safely change attachments where appropriate. What prices can I expect? The service charge for a single piercing is £15–£30. This includes sterile, single-use set-up, appointment time, medical-grade sterilisation, skin preparation, and an in-store consultation. Jewellery is not included. We stock premium, implant-grade jewellery only, with prices starting from £20 and ranging upwards depending on material and design. Options include ASTM F-136 / F-1295 titanium, 14ct and 18ct gold, Swarovski zirconia, semi-precious stones, emeralds, and diamonds. Additional costs Downsizing: £15 Jewellery changes: £6 Aftercare products: £8 Aesthetic treatments Prices vary depending on the treatment and products required. Is your studio Wheelchair accessible? The studio is located at street level, and services are carried out on the ground floor. However, there are two steps leading up to the front door, and the street outside is cobbled. Unfortunately, this means wheelchair users or those with limited mobility may find access difficult. We appreciate your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Where can I park? There is on-street parking directly outside the studio, subject to pay and display. There are also nearby multi-storey car parks, including Riverside and Prince Bishops. If you’re travelling by public transport, the studio is located right next to the city centre bus station on North Road. Do you sell gift certificates? Yes. We offer e-gift cards, which can be purchased and customised online via our online store. We also sell physical, eco-friendly plastic gift cards in the studio, with the option to add a premium magnetic gift box and gift bag for a more luxurious presentation or easier gifting. My piercing has closed up can I have it re-pierced? In most cases, yes. As long as there is healed, healthy tissue available, a piercing can usually be safely re-pierced. Please note that we cannot take responsibility for piercings that close over. If a piercing has closed, the procedure will be charged as a new piercing. Re-piercing is not discounted. It is the responsibility of the piercee to ensure jewellery and attachments remain secure and in place. Even fully healed piercings should continue to have jewellery installed to prevent closure. Who can bring a child for a piercing? For any piercing on a child under the age of 16, consent must be given in person by a parent or legal guardian. This is a legal requirement, not just studio policy. We cannot accept consent from grandparents, siblings, extended family members, family friends, or third parties. Handwritten notes, phone calls, or messages are not sufficient. If the accompanying adult is not the child’s parent or legal guardian, we will be unable to proceed with the piercing. We understand this can be frustrating, but these safeguards exist to protect your child and ensure legal and ethical compliance. What do I need to bring? Please bring: Photo ID for the parent or legal guardian Proof of the child’s age, such as a passport, birth certificate, or official document showing their name and date of birth Are aesthetic treatments suitable for everyone? Not always. Suitability depends on medical history, skin condition, medications, and treatment goals. If a treatment is not appropriate, we will advise accordingly. Safety always comes first. How do prescription-only treatments work? Some aesthetic treatments are prescription-only and require an assessment by a qualified prescriber. These treatments cannot be carried out without prior approval and a valid prescription. Prescriber clinics are held periodically and dates will be announced in advance. Once a prescription has been issued, treatment can be booked accordingly. Treatments that require a prescription will be clearly indicated on the booking system. Do I need ID? Yes. Valid photo ID is required for all services. Accepted forms include a passport, driving licence, or official photo ID displaying a PASS hologram. Appointments cannot proceed without valid ID. If ID is not provided, the appointment will be cancelled and the booking fee forfeited. Can I combine aesthetic treatments with piercings? This depends on the treatment and area involved. We may advise spacing appointments to allow proper healing and reduce risk. How many treatments will I need? Some treatments require a course of sessions to achieve optimal results. This will be discussed during consultation, as results vary between individuals. Are results guaranteed? No piercing or aesthetic treatment can be guaranteed. Results vary between individuals and depend on factors such as tissue response, skin quality, lifestyle, and adherence to aftercare.

  • Polynucleotides | Jade Alexandra Collective

Advanced polynucleotide treatments in Durham at Jade Alexandra Collective. A regenerative approach to improving skin quality, texture and tissue repair through careful, conservative treatment. Polynucleotide Treatments Polynucleotide treatments are advanced injectable skin therapies derived from highly purified salmon DNA, designed to support skin regeneration, repair, and overall skin quality at a cellular level. They work by stimulating natural repair processes within the skin, improving hydration, elasticity, and resilience over time. The treatment focuses on strengthening the skin rather than altering facial movement or structure. At Jade Alexandra Collective, polynucleotide treatments are delivered with careful consideration of skin condition and individual goals. Treatments are anatomy-led, evidence-based, and tailored to support skin regeneration and long-term skin health. While suitable for the majority of people, relevant health information is reviewed to ensure treatments are provided safely and appropriately. Polynucleotide treatments may be suitable for improving: Fine lines and early signs of ageing Crepey, thin, or fragile skin Loss of elasticity and firmness Dull, dehydrated, or stressed skin Under-eye skin quality concerns Skin affected by inflammation or environmental damage Polynucleotides support fibroblast activity, collagen and elastin production, and microcirculation, helping the skin to repair, strengthen, and function more effectively. The result is healthier, more resilient skin with a refreshed, natural appearance. Results develop gradually as the skin regenerates. Improvements in hydration and texture are often noticed first, with continued enhancement in skin quality over the following weeks. For optimal and longer-lasting results, a course of three treatments is commonly recommended, with maintenance sessions advised where appropriate. Results are cumulative and not immediate. This treatment is suited to those seeking regenerative improvement and long-term skin health rather than instant or dramatic change. Polynucleotide treatments are only provided where appropriate and following informed consent. Full aftercare guidance is provided to support recovery and optimal outcomes. Price Polynucleotide treatments are available. Treatment prices start from £200.00. Book Now
